The Ducks announced on Wednesday that they have signed a one-year affiliation agreement with the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL.

The Komets make their ECHL debut in 2012-13 after winning the Central Hockey League’s (CHL) President Cup in 2011-12 with a five-game series victory over the Wichita Thunder. Fort Wayne has hosted 60 seasons of Komets hockey in the International Hockey League (IHL), United Hockey League (UHL) and CHL, winning nine championships (seven IHL Turner Cups; one UHL Colonial Cup; one CHL President’s Cup). The Komets have won their respective league’s championship in four of the last five seasons and averaged over 7,000 fans for 10 consecutive seasons at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.

Recent Anaheim affiliates in the ECHL have included Elmira (2010-12), Bakersfield (2008-10) and Augusta (2006-08). Anaheim Head Coach Bruce Boudreau played for Fort Wayne (IHL) for two seasons (1990-92) and served as head coach from 1993-95, earning the IHL's Commissioner's Trophy as Coach of the Year for 1993-94. Currently led by former Anaheim assistant coach Al Sims (1993-96), the Komets will make their ECHL debut on Friday, Oct. 12 when they host Kalamazoo at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
