On the Road with the Ducks (Vancouver Edition)

Updated Wednesday, May 2 at 4:36 a.m.
The Ducks got on the plane soon after the end of Game 4, flew back to Southern California and arrived at Honda Center at approximately 4:30 a.m. They are scheduled to practice around 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Teemu Selanne, with about five cuts on his face and swelling around his chin, had the quote of the night when talking on the air to Brian Hayward after the game. "Thank God I'm married," Selanne said, "because I'm not pretty anymore."

The Ducks obviously did what they wanted to do in Vancouver. Another win Thursday night at Honda Center means they won't have to go back.

- It's 20 minutes to puck drop and the Angels are only in the bottom of the sixth in Kansas City.

- As was the case in Game 3, the GM Place disc jockey apparently stopped collecting CDs after the Reagan administration. The Canucks came out for warmups to "Same Old Situation" by Motley Crue. Not exactly what I would choose if my team lost the last game here.

- This is what Ducks fans hope Roberto Luongo sees in his dreams:

Word around here is that it's raining in Kansas City, but they did start the Angel game on time. Any rain delays could be disastrous for Ducks fans hoping to catch the beginning of the game on Fox Sports Net. Keep your fingers crossed.

Root hard for a pitchers' dual tonight when the Angels take on Kansas City at 5 p.m. Fox Sports Net will air that game and switch over to the Ducks when it's done.

Keep in mind, if the beginning of the Ducks game is pre-empted, you can follow the live game log tonight right here.

Maybe Canadians aren't as friendly as we think they are (that's a Ducks jersey, in case you can't tell):

Todd Marchant was among the Ducks skating Tuesday morning. Marchant, who has not played in the postseason with a groin injury, is hopeful to be available for a potential Round 3.

Updated Tuesday, May 1 at 10:52 a.m.

The Ducks arrived at GM Place for their optional morning skate and are scheduled to hit the ice at approximately 11:30.

One of the aspects of the Ducks' life on the road that never ceases to amaze is the collection of autograph seekers who gather outside the team hotel. Some of these guys (and gals) spend the whole day out there waiting for Ducks to either leave or arrive. And several of them have been out there multiple days. Each of them is carrying binders with photos and hockey cards in them. Some of them even get autographs from Ducks broadcasters (and former NHLers) Brian Hayward and Brent Severyn.

Since they always seem to know when and where the Ducks are going to be, Ducks play-by-play man John Ahlers says, "If they would have made an Osama bin Laden hockey card, they would have found him three years ago."

Here are a few photos from this morning:

Updated Sunday, April 29 at 10:17 a.m.

- The Ducks will not have a morning skate today, since there is a relatively early 5 p.m. start tonight. They will spend the day relaxing at the hotel, have meetings and head over to GM place in the afternoon.

- Read a preview of tonight's game and check out some of today's stories on the Ducks in the Media Roundup.

- There are certain things that go on in Vancouver that reinforce the idea that this is a hockey town. Last night at a popular bar called Roxy, the singer for the band performing at the bar briefly sang the chorus to the song "Lola" by the Kinks. But instead of singing "Oh my Lola, lo lo lo Lola" he sang "Oh Luongo, lo lo lo Luongo."

- Check back later for pregame pictures...

Updated Saturday, April 28 at 5:49 p.m.
