Parros Eye Injury Not Serious
The right eye injury suffered by Ducks forward George Parros in Friday night's game against the Vancouver Canucks is not serious, and he is listed as day-to-day. Parros was examined Saturday night by Dr. Mo Neal at Anaheim Eye Medical Group and was determined to have a scratched cornea. The swelling has been greatly reduced and there is no serious damage.

Parros was struck by a high stick by Vancouver's Sami Salo in the second period of Friday night's 7-6 shootout loss and did not return.

“You definitely don’t like any sort of injury near the eye, so it was nerve-wracking for a little bit,” Parros said on Sunday. “It hurt pretty bad when it happened. I got hit right on the eyeball, so I wasn’t really sure what was going on. I thought it was a cut at first. Then I realized the cut wasn’t that bad and it was more of just a bruising-type situation, so I didn’t really know what to expect. There was a lot of blurriness but I figured I’d not freak out until I let it rest for at least an hour or two, and see how my vision was then."

Parros had hoped to play Sunday night against Calgary, but he was held out of that game.

“They said the scratched cornea heals quickly,” Parros said. “It was really just the swelling issue that kept me off the ice. I was close to playing. I saw the doctor (Sunday) afternoon. There was still some swelling, and he didn’t want me to get out there until it’s all gone.”

The 28-year-old Parros has two goals in 11 games and is tied for second on the Ducks in plus/minus with +5.

He hopes to get back on the ice when the Ducks face the Kings on Tuesday night in L.A. "If the swelling goes down by then, I’ll make that call, see how it feels and all that. I'll possibly (wear a shield) for a couple games. I’m not trying to be a hero here. Whatever it takes to get on the ice, I’ll do, for sure.”
