Mighty Ducks Sign Mike Leclerc to One-Year Contract
Leclerc, 28 (11/10/76), has played in each of the club’s last eight seasons, scoring 54-78=132 points with 251 penalty minutes in 291 games. He appeared in 10 games with the club in 2003-2004, earning 1-3=4 points with four penalty minutes. Leclerc missed the first 55 and final 17 games of the 2003-2004 season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.
A 6-2, 215-pound forward, Leclerc made major contributions during the Mighty Ducks run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2003. He finished tied for the club lead with nine assists and was second with two game-winning goals in the postseason, after tying for third on the club with four game-winning goals and in the regular season.
A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Leclerc was drafted by Anaheim in the third round (55th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
DiPenta, 26 (2/25/79), played for the Manitoba Moose in 2004-2005, earning 2-10=12 points with 48 penalty minutes in 73 regular season games. He earned 0-5=5 points in 17 postseason games with the club.
A 6-2, 220-pound defenseman, DiPenta appeared in three NHL games with Atlanta in 2002-2003, earning 1-1=2 points. The Barrie, Ontario, native was drafted by Florida in the third round (61st overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
