ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed restricted free-agent left wings Travis Moen and Chris Kunitz to one-year contracts. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deals were disclosed.

The 6-2, 210-pound Moen was acquired from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for Michael Holmqvist on July 30, 2005. The 6-2, 200-pounder played 79 games with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) last season, recording 8-12=20 points with 187 penalty minutes (PIM). A native of Stewart Valley, Sask., Moen established professional single-season career highs in goals, assists and points last season. In six Calder Cup playoff games, he posted 0-1=1 points with 8 PIM.

In 2003-04, Moen made his NHL debut playing in all 82 regular season games, recording 4-2=6 points with 142 PIM with the Blackhawks. Moen, 23, (4/6/82) was originally drafted by Calgary in the fifth round (155th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft before signing with Chicago as a free agent on Oct. 21, 2001.

Kunitz, 25 (9/26/79), played 54 games for the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL) last season, recording 22-17=39 points with 71 PIM and a plus/minus rating of +13. In 12 postseason contests, he scored 1-7=8 points with 20 PIM. Kunitz, a native of Regina, Sask., made his National Hockey League debut with Anaheim in 2003-04, playing 21 games and notching six assists with 12 PIM.

Kunitz signed with the Mighty Ducks as free agent on April 1, 2003 after scoring 175 points in 152 career games at Ferris State in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association.
