Coyotes Down Ducks in OT
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Zbynek Michalek scored with 2:30 left in overtime, and the Phoenix Coyotes ended the preseason with a 4-3 victory over the Mighty Ducks on Saturday night.

Michalek, acquired in a trade with Minnesota on Aug. 26, took a pass across the slot from Oleg Saprykin and wristed the winner past Anaheim's Ilya Bryzgalov to help Phoenix (2-6-0) snap a six-game exhibition losing streak.

Mike Ricci led the Coyotes from behind in the third period, scoring on a deflection with 5:15 left to force the extra session. Jeff Taffe and Shane Doan also had goals for Phoenix, and Curtis Joseph stopped 21 shots for the win.

Joffrey Lupul and Scott Niedermayer each had a goal and an assist for Anaheim (3-4-1). Bryzgalov, who beat the Coyotes in overtime in his only NHL start on March 16, 2004, had 28 saves.

Lupul's goal, a quick wrister that went top shelf over Joseph's glove with 1:19 to go in the second, took away the momentum Phoenix built with two goals earlier in the period.

The Ducks scored on two of their first three power plays, building a 2-0 lead.

Phoenix special teams, which held San Jose scoreless on 10 power plays the night before, weren't able to handle a 5-on-3 power play that began after Chris McAllister drew a 10-minute misconduct and seven minutes of team penalties for instigating and fighting with Anaheim's Kip Brennan 2:55 into the game.

Nineteen seconds later, Mike Leclerc was penalized for kneeing, and Niedermayer scored 4:39 in.

The Ducks, who outshot Phoenix 13-6 in the first period, added another goal on a shot by Andy McDonald with 5:02 left in the first.

Taffe and Doan tied it at two by scoring 1:57 apart late in the second, with Brett Hull assisting on both goals.
