Ducks Claim Marchant On Waivers
Marchant, 32 (8/12/73), has played 18 games with Columbus this season, scoring 3-6=9 points with 20 penalty minutes. The 5-10, 180-pound forward has played in 774 NHL games over 13 seasons, earning 148-238=386 points. He has also appeared in 43 postseason games, earning 7-6=13 points with 42 penalty minutes.
He set career highs in goals, assists and points during the 2002-2003 season as a member of the Edmonton Oilers, earning 20-40=60 points with 48 penalty minutes and a +13 rating. A native of Buffalo, New York, Marchant played for Team USA at the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway where he earned 1-1=2 points in eight tournament games.
Marchant was selected in the seventh round (164th overall) of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. He was traded to Edmonton by the NY Rangers for Craig MacTavish on March 21, 1994. He signed as a free agent with Columbus on July 3, 2003.
