Ducks Down Coyotes, 2-1
Wright (1, Marchant) scored his first goal as a Mighty Duck and first of the season as he tipped a slap shot by center Todd Marchant past Joseph at 4:37 of the first period to give the Ducks an early 1-0 lead.
Wright was acquired from Columbus along with Francois Beauchemin for Sergei Fedorov and a fifth-round draft pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft on November 15th. Marchant was claimed off waivers from the Blue Jackets yesterday.
Selanne (11, Salei, McDonald) would give the Ducks a 2-0 lead less than two minutes later when the veteran right wing swept a pass from Ducks defenseman Ruslan Salei past Phoenix goaltender Curtis Joseph. The goal, at 6:33 of the first period, was Selanne's team-leading 11th goal of the season.
Geoff Sanderson (5, Doan) scored for Phoenix with 0.2 seconds remaining in the first period to cut the Ducks' two-goal lead in half.
Ducks goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 11 shots in the final period and Anaheim held on for their first win since November 1st.
