Ducks Recall Konopka, Penner
Penner, 23 (9/28/82), has played in 16 games with Portland this season, scoring 11-9=20 points with 21 penalty minutes (PIM) and a +8 rating. At the time of his recall, the 6-4, 245-pounder was leading Portland in scoring and ranked T-7th in the AHL in goals, T-10th in scoring, T-1st in game winning goals (3) and was 2nd in the league with 72 shots.
Penner started the season with Anaheim but did not appear in a game before being reassigned to Portland on Oct. 10. A native of Winkler, Manitoba, Penner was signed as a free agent on May 12, 2004.
Konopka, 24 (1/2/81), appeared in his first five career NHL games following his recall on Oct. 29. He scored his first NHL goal on Nov. 6 vs. Minnesota. Konopka was reassigned to Portland on Nov. 8.
The Niagara Falls, Ontario native has played in 13 games with Portland this season, earning 7-10=17 points with 21 PIM and a +6 rating. At the time of his recall, he was second on Portland in scoring. The 6-1, 213-pound forward agreed to terms on a two-year contract with Anaheim on Sept. 1, 2004.
