Mighty Ducks Recall Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry from Portland
ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled center/right wing Ryan Getzlaf and right wing Corey Perry from the Portland Pirates, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). Both Getzlaf and Perry were assigned to Portland on Nov. 21 after starting the season with Anaheim.

Entering today’s games, Getzlaf (1.94) and Perry (1.79) rank first and second, respectively in points-per-game among all AHL players. They were also co-winners of the AHL Rookie of the Month Award for December. Perry led all AHL scorers in December with 12-12=24 points in 13 games, while Getzlaf ranked second in the AHL with 6-17=23 points in 11 games.

Getzlaf, 20 (5/10/85), scored 4-3=7 points with 10 penalty minutes (PIM) and had a plus/minus rating of plus-four in 16 games with Anaheim before being assigned to Portland. With Portland, he scored 8-25=33 points with 36 PIM in 17 games. At the time of his recall, Getzlaf was tied for fifth in the AHL in rookie scoring and was first overall on Portland in assists (third overall in points).

Perry, 20 (5/16/85) scored 1-5=6 points with 10 PIM in 15 games with Anaheim before being assigned to Portland. With Portland, he scored 16-18=34 points in 19 games. From Nov. 23-Dec. 31, Perry had a 17-game scoring streak (15-17=32 points), the longest of the AHL this season and the longest in Portland franchise history. At the time of his recall, Perry ranked tied for third in the AHL in rookie scoring and was second overall on Portland in both goals and points.

Anaheim drafted Getzlaf (19th overall) and Perry (28th overall) in the first round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.
