ANAHEIM, Calif. - The entire Mighty Ducks of Anaheim roster and equipment manufacturer TPS Hockey have teamed to pay tribute to hockey moms and emphasize breast cancer awareness. Each Mighty Ducks player used a pink stick either during the team’s warm-up skate or throughout the club’s game at Columbus on Sunday, March 19.

Now you can own one of these signed sticks all in support of the American Cancer Society, Orange County Region. 

All of the sticks were autographed following the game and are being auctioned to raise money for cancer research. The online auction will begin Tuesday March 28, 2006 at 2:00 PM PST on MightyDucks.com. Click here to enter the online Auction.

“As an organization, we’re committed to being a team that sets the bar in community and charitable efforts,” said Executive Vice President & General Manager Brian Burke. “This program is just a small way for us to help stop a disease that strikes a great number of lives around us.”

A majority of NHL teams participated in the program with over 400 NHL players expected to take part. Each player, and goalie, had his name inscribed on the stick, which will carry a breast cancer research logo. The weekend program was the idea and gained momentum with the support of Wayne Gretzky and TPS owner Paul Walker, both of whom had family members succumb to cancer.

“Breast cancer is a disease that touches too many lives and we’re just happy to play a part in helping raise awareness and funds for research,” said Anaheim captain Scott Niedermayer.
