Preseason: Ducks 5, Canucks 1

GAME LOG: 

POSTGAME - Andy McDonald and Chris Kunitz each tallied twice to lead the Ducks over the Vancouver Canucks 5-1 in a preseason contest on Friday night at the Arrowhead Pond.

JS Giguere played all 60 minutes of the contest and stopped 22 shots in the victory. 

The Ducks now head to Fresno to face the San Jose Sharks tomorrow night.

13:20 - Geoff Peters and Rick Rypien trade punches in the evening's fourth fight.  Each are issued fighting majors.

9:58 - Anaheim's Todd Marchant gets called for hooking.  Vancouver goes on a two-man advantage.

8:42 - Vancouver's Kevin Bieksa and Anaheim's Travis Moen battle in the third fight of the contest.  Bieksa gets a 10:00 misconduct in the scuffle.  Moen gets an extra 2 minutes for cross checking.  Vancouver goes on the power play.

6:42 - Andy McDonald rifles a wrist shot past Julien Ellis for his second goal of the game on the power play to give Anaheim a 5-1 lead.  The goal is McDonald from Huskins and Skinner.

5:40 - Matt Cooke takes a slashing minor for Vancouver.  The Ducks go on a two-man advantage.

5:33 - Jan Bulis takes a hooking penalty.  Sean O'Donnell and Nathan McIver fight in the Canucks end.  Each are given 5 minute penalties.

5:10 - Kevin Bieksa goes off for roughing for Vancouver.

4:02 - Vancouver's Michael Grabner gets a rebound past Giguere to cut the Ducks' lead to 4-1 on the power play.  The goal is Grabner from Morrison and Naslund.

3:55 - Chris Pronger gets two minutes for cross checking.

2:34 - Sean O'Donnell goes off for high sticking giving Vancouver a two-man advantage.

1:10 - Stanislav Chistov is issued an interference minor.

17:55 - Sammy Pahlsson is stopped on his penalty shot bid by Julien Ellis.

17:55 - The puck is covered in the Vancouver crease by a Canucks skater.  The Ducks are awarded a penalty shot.

17:06 - Vancouver's Tommi Santala gets two minutes for hooking.

17:06 - Corey Perry scores a power play goal to give Anaheim a 4-0 lead.  Perry collected the puck behind the Vancouver net and scored on a wrap-a-round.  The goal is Perry from Getzlaf and Skinner on the power play. 

15:51 - Lukas Krajicek gets two minutes for hooking.

14:01 - Bruno St. Jacques goes off for interference giving Vancouver a two-man advantage.

13:36 - Andy McDonald gets two minutes for hooking.

12:45 - Anaheim's Curtis Glencross and Vancouver's Nathan McIver battle in the first fight of the game to the left of Ellis.  Each get five minutes.

9:30 - Julien Ellis takes over for Luongo in goal for Vancouver.

4:47 - Anaheim's Stanislav Chistov is caught hooking.  Vancouver does not have a goal on four power plays.

0:00 - Play underway.  The Ducks start with 1:37 left on Green's minor and 2:14 remaining on Dwyer's Double.  The Ducks are 1-7 on the power play.

2nd Period

20:00 - End of the 1st Period.  Shots on goal - ANA 16, VAN 4

19:36 - Vancouver's Josh Green is issued an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the goal.

19:36 - Andy McDonald gives the Ducks a 3-0 lead with a 5-on-3 power play goal.  McDonald one-timed a short pass from captain Scott Niedermayer past Luongo.  The goal is McDonald from Scott Niedermayer and Selanne on the power play.

18:13 - Vancouver's Gordie Dwyer is issued two minutes for hooking, two for roughing and a 10:00 misconduct.  Joe Rullier is given two for roughing and a 10:00 misconduct.  Anaheim will have a two-man advantage.

15:29 - Scott Niedermayer is issued a hooking minor negating the Anaheim power play.

14:49 - Travis Moen and Rick Rypien have some words behind the Vancouver net.  Moen issued a roughing minor.  Rypien gets a double minor for roughing.  Power play for the Ducks - they are 0-3.

12:15 - Canucks defensman Joe Rullier takes a roughing minor.  Anaheim is 0-2 on the power play.

10:02 - The Ducks' Geoff Peters takes a tripping penalty giving the Canucks a two-man-advantage.

9:06 - Anaheim's Ryan Getzlaf takes a hooking minor.  Vancouver is 0-1 on the power play.

7:13 - Vancouver's Jan Bulis is issued a hooking minor giving Anaheim a two-man advantage.

5:53 - Vancouver's Rick Rypien goes off for a trip.  Anaheim's first power play.

5:30 - Kunitz gives the Ducks a 2-0 lead.  Teemu Selanne rifled a slap shot from the right face off dot off the left shoulder of Roberto Luongo.  The puck richocheted off the end wall and to Kunitz at the other side of the net.  Kunitz deposited it into an open net for his second goal of the game.  The goal is Kunitz from Selanne and Getzlaf. 

3:06 - Kunitz takes a goaltender interference minor to give Vancouver their first power play.

0:23 - Chris Kunitz beats Luongo on the first shift of the game.  Kunitz and Selanne went in 2-on-0.  Kunitz faked the pass to Selanne and instead fired the puck five-hole to give Anaheim the 1-0 lead.  The goal is Kunitz from McDonald and Scott Niedermayer - even strength.

PREGAME: The Anaheim Ducks face the Vancouver Canucks in an exhibition contest tonight at 7:05 at the Arrowhead Pond.  Both teams are skating in their third preseason game, Anaheim is 1-1 and Vancouver is 0-2.

Regulars in uniform for the Ducks tonight include Teemu Selanne, Corey Perry, Chris Kunitz, Ryan Getzlaf, Andy McDonald, Sean O'Donnell, Todd Marchant, Chris Pronger, Sammy Pahlsson, Scott Niedermayer, Travis Moen and JS Giguere who will start tonight in goal for the Ducks.

Giguere will be backed-up by rookie David McKee. 

Among the notables for Vancouver in tonight's contest are Roberto Luongo who gets the start between the pipes for the Canucks, Sami Salo, Brendan Morrison, Rory Fitzpatrick, Markus Naslund, Matt Cooke and Jan Bulis. 

Luongo's backup in the net tonight is Julien Ellis.
