Country Star Sara Evans Sings Anthem
ANAHEIM, Calif. - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the 2006 Academy of Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year and Dancing with the Stars contestant Sara Evans will sing the national anthem this Friday, Oct. 6, before the Ducks open their regular season versus the Los Angeles Kings. Evans has sold more than five million albums since her career began in 1997.
Evans is currently starring in ABC's hit series Dancing with the Stars, and is the only country artist ever to appear on the show. The primetime series airs Tuesday and Wednesday nights and pairs celebrities with professional ballroom dancers in head-to-head competition. One duo is eliminated each week until a winner is crowned. Evans, who is paired with dance champion Tony Dovolani, will be performing in a fifth week of competition, taking place Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Evans' most recent album, Real Fine Place, has reached number one on the Billboard Country Album Chart and number three on the Top 200 Album Chart. Sara co-wrote the current single off the album, entitled "You'll Always Be My Baby," which includes background vocals by her father.
