Ducks Weekly Report
WESTERN CONFERENCE SHOWDOWN: The Ducks host the Red Wings Wednesday night at Honda Center in a rematch of the 2007 Western Conference Finals…this is the third of four meetings between the two clubs this season…the Ducks are 1-0-1 thus far, winning 6-3 @ Honda Center on Oct. 15 and falling in a shootout in Detroit on Oct. 3 (3-2)…despite being 13-31-10 vs. Detroit in the regular season lifetime, the Ducks have won the last three contests @ Honda Center…the two clubs have also met four times in the playoffs (1997, 1999, 2003 & 2007)…the Wings won the first two series in four-game sweeps, but Anaheim has since won eight of the last 10 playoff games between the two clubs (sweep in 2003, won in six games last post-season) .

TWO OF THE LEAGUE’S HOTTEST SQUARE OFF: Since the return of defenseman Scott Niedermayer and arrival of center Doug Weight on Dec. 16, the Ducks have the top record in the NHL, with Detroit a close second…below is a look at the NHL teams with the highest point totals since Dec. 16:

TOP RECORDS SINCE DEC. 16 (DATE OF NIEDERMAYER/WEIGHT ADDITIONS)

1. Anaheim - 12-3-2, 26 points

2. Detroit - 11-4-1, 23 points

3. Pittsburgh - 10-3-1, 21 points

RECENTLY: The Ducks have won six of their last seven games (6-1-0) and have earned points in nine of the last 10 contests (8-1-1)…the club is also 12-3-2 in the last 17 and 23-11-4 in the last 38 games.

HOT AT HONDA CENTER: Anaheim has won seven consecutive games at Honda Center, the longest stretch by any NHL team this season...the streak ties the club record for consecutive home wins, set March. 7-April 4, 2006.

TERRIFIC TRIO: The Ducks top line of Ryan Getzlaf, Todd Bertuzzi and Corey Perry have collected a combined total of 13-24=37 points over the last seven games, dating back to Jan. 7 vs. Nashville...Getzlaf is riding a career-high 14-game scoring streak (6-15=21 with a +13), the third longest in franchise history…in the month of January, Getzlaf leads the NHL in points (16), assists (12), and plus/minus (+12)…Getzlaf has a +19 rating over the last 22 games...Bertuzzi has 5-7=12 points with a +7 over his last seven games…Perry is also riding a career-high seven-game point streak, earning 5-7=12 points with a +5 rating during that span (with goals in five of the seven contests).

STREAKING:
Center Ryan Getzlaf (6-15=21) comes into Wednesday’s contest on a career-high 14-game point streak, which is the longest active point streak in the NHL...Getzlaf is the first Duck with a 14-game point streak since Teemu Selanne’s club-record 17-game streak form Feb. 3 – Mar. 10, 1999.

FINDING THE NET: The Ducks have scored 26 goals over their last seven games, scoring four-or-more in five of the seven contests.

THE LONG ROAD: The Ducks are in the midst of playing 12 of 13 games away from Honda Center (2-1-0 thus far)...according to Stats Inc, this is only the sixth season since the expansion era that an NHL team has had such a such a schedule...since the 1967-68 regular season, only the Los Angeles Kings (1975-76, 1978-79, 1981-82), San Jose Sharks (1998-99), Philadelphia Flyers (2005-06) and Anaheim Ducks (2007-08) have been scheduled to play 12 road games in a 27-day period...no NHL team has ever had more than 12 games in 27 days...the 2005-06 Flyers are the only team to finish over .500 in their 12 road games (10-2-2).

A RARE FEAT: Friday's contest at Minnesota (Jan. 18) marked the 900th NHL game for both Rob Niedermayer and Sean O'Donnell...this marked the first time since Jan. 23, 1992 that teammates appeared in their 900th game together...in that contest, Mark Messier and John Ogrodnick played their 900th NHL contest for the NY Rangers at Edmonton...since that time, no teammates have played together in a milestone game of 900-or-more (statistical research courtesy Elias Sports Bureau).

PACKING ’EM IN: The Ducks recorded their 59th consecutive sellout at Honda Center on Jan. 15 against the Dallas Stars...the 59 current sellouts include 47 regular season and 12 playoff games...last August, the Ducks capped season ticket sales at 15,000 and started a waiting list for future orders...the Ducks currently have the third-longest active regular-season sellout streak among U.S.-based NHL teams...Minnesota leads the way with 270 consecutive regular season sellouts...next is the New York Rangers with 100...Anaheim is third with 47, the longest active streak of any U.S. team on the west coast...Pittsburgh ranks fifth with 37 straight regular season sellouts...among Canadian teams, Vancouver leads with 198 consecutive regular season sellouts and is followed by Toronto (179), Calgary (149), Montreal (121), Edmonton (98) and Ottawa (21).
