Ducks Recall Bodie; Beleskey Down

The Ducks have recalled right wing Troy Bodie from the Iowa Chops, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned left wing Matt Beleskey to Iowa.

Bodie, 23 (1/25/85), scored 6-6=12 points with 71 penalty minutes (PIM) in 40 games with the Chops this season. At the time of his recall, Bodie was tied for the team lead in appearances while ranking third in penalty minutes.

Signed as a free agent on July 22, 2008, Bodie has appeared in 82 career AHL games, earning 9-7=16 points with 137 PIM. He spent last season with Springfield (AHL), recording 9-6=15 points in 62 games. Bodie logged 108 PIM with the Falcons in 2007-08, finishing third on the team. Originally selected by Edmonton in the ninth round (278th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Bodie made his professional debut in 2006-07, splitting the season with Stockton (ECHL) and Hamilton (AHL). Bodie has never appeared in an NHL game.

Beleskey, 20 (6/7/88), appeared in two games with the Ducks this season, going scoreless while averaging 11:09 time on ice (TOI). Recalled from Iowa on Jan. 9, Beleskey made his NHL debut that night vs. Tampa Bay, recording a +1 rating in 13:53 TOI. With Iowa, Beleskey has collected 6-9=15 points with 22 penalty minutes (PIM) in 18 AHL games this season. Among active Iowa players, Beleskey leads the team in points-per-game scoring with an average of .83. In addition, he ranks fourth on the Chops in goals and points, fifth in assists and first in power play goals (5).

Selected in the fourth round (112th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, Beleskey played four seasons with Belleville of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2004-08, recording 98-191=289 points with 467 PIM in 257 career games. Last season, Beleskey collected 41-49=90 points with 106 PIM in 62 games, finishing 13th in OHL scoring and ninth in goals. He led the Bulls and finished fourth among league leaders in postseason scoring (12-21=33) en route to appearances in the OHL Championship Series and the Memorial Cup.
