Bodie, Mikkelson, Miller Reassigned

The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned left wing Drew Miller, right wing Troy Bodie and defenseman Brendan Mikkelson to the Iowa Chops, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Miller, 24 (2/17/84), was recalled from Iowa on Jan. 3 and scored 0-2=2 points with a +1 rating and seven penalty minutes (PIM) in eight games with the Ducks. Miller began the season with the Chops, earning 16-11=27 points with a +3 rating and six PIM in 34 games. At the time of his recall, Miller led Iowa in goals, ranked tied for first in power play goals (6) and second in points.

Selected in the sixth round (186th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Miller appeared in 26 games with the Ducks last season, scoring 2-3=5 points with six PIM. He made his regular season NHL debut on Oct. 6, 2007 at Pittsburgh and scored his first career NHL goal in a 3-1 Anaheim victory on Oct. 17 vs. Nashville. Miller spent the rest of 2007-08 with Anaheim’s AHL affiliate in Portland, collecting 16-20=36 points with 12 PIM in 31 games. He also scored 1-7=8 points with 12 PIM in 16 Calder Cup Playoff games, helping the Pirates to an AHL Eastern Conference Finals appearance.

Mikkelson, 21 (6/22/87), went scoreless with eight PIM in 11 games with Anaheim following his recall from Iowa on Jan. 1. Mikkelson made his NHL debut on Jan. 2 vs. Philadelphia, recording one shot in 13:39 time on ice (TOI). He has appeared in 21 games with Iowa this season, scoring 1-5=6 points with 10 PIM. Mikkelson was ranked tied for third among team defensemen in scoring at time of his NHL recall.

Selected in the second round (31st overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Mikkelson played his first professional season with Anaheim’s AHL affiliate in Portland last year, collecting 6-10=16 points in 66 regular season games. The 6-3, 210-pound blue-liner helped the Pirates to a 2008 AHL Eastern Conference Finals appearance, earning 2-6=8 points in 14 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Bodie, 23 (1/25/85), appeared in three games with Anaheim, going scoreless. Recalled from Iowa on Jan. 15, Bodie made his NHL debut on Jan. 16 at Pittsburgh, recording 6:44 TOI. With Iowa, he has collected 6-6=12 points with 71 PIM in 40 games. Prior to his NHL recall, Bodie was tied for the team lead in appearances while ranking third in PIM.

Signed as a free agent on July 22, 2008, Bodie has appeared in 82 career AHL games, earning 9-7=16 points with 137 PIM. He spent last season with Springfield (AHL), recording 9-6=15 points in 62 games. Bodie logged 108 PIM with the Falcons in 2007-08, finishing third on the team.
