Ducks Shine in January

Ryan Getzlaf, Scott Niedermayer and Bobby Ryan each led the league in scoring in their respective categories in January

Getzlaf led the NHL in scoring in January with 4-15=19 points…for the season, he ranks fourth in the NHL in points and assists (18-43=61) and first in both power play assists (23) and power play points (27)…he has 5-20=25 points in the last 20 games...Getzlaf also has 16 points (3-13=16) in his last 12 ROAD games, with points in 11 of the 12... the Anaheim center has points in 21 of the last 26 (8-22=30), 29 of his last 35 (12-30=42) and 38 of 46 games (18-43=61 with a +16 rating).

Niedermayer led the NHL in assists in January and ranked T-3rd in overall scoring (1-16=17)…he also led all defensemen in January scoring (1-16=17), with no other blueliner recording more than 13 points in the month (Mike Green of WSH had 13)…Niedermayer has the longest current assist streak in the NHL (five games, 1-8=9)…he has collected points in eight of the last 10 games (1-11=13), 11 of the last 14 (1-16=17) and 12 of the last 16 (2-16=18)...for the season, he now ranks tied for fourth in the NHL in scoring among defensemen (2nd in assists).

Ryan co-led the league in goal scoring for the month of January with 11 (tied with Mike Cammalleri of CGY)...his 11 goals were the most by a rookie in one month since Alex Ovechkin had 11 in March, 2006…he also set a Ducks rookie record for goals in one month (previously seven, Kariya (March 1995) and Penner (March 2007)) and tied the rookie record for points in a month (Getzlaf, March 2006, 4-12=16)...Ryan’s 16 points were seven more than any other rookie had in January (four players had nine points), while his 11 goals were five more than any other rookie (Kyle Okposo of NYI, six goals)…he also had a franchise rookie-record five-game goal streak  from Jan. 17-28... he currently has a seven-game point streak (5-3=8), the longest by a rookie since Sam Gagner (EDM) had a nine-game streak from Feb. 4-24, 2008…Ryan had points in 12 of the 14 games in January (11-5=16) and has points in 17 of the last 20 contests (13-11=24) overall...he has 15-13=28 points in the last 25 games and 15-15=30 in the last 29 contests...Ryan currently owns an 12-game ROAD point streak (9-9=18), including goals in four of the last five (4-2=6) and in six of the last eight road games (8-4=12)...for the season, Ryan has 17-17=34 points with a +11 rating in 34 games…he currently leads all NHL rookies in goals (17), power play goals (8), power play points (15), shooting percentage (19.1%), and points-per-game (1.00), while ranking second in points and assists.

Ducks Power Play
The Ducks led the NHL in power play efficiency in the month of January…the Ducks went 16-for-54 (29.6%) for the month in 14 games…the club has now scored a PP goal in eight-straight games (8-for-27, 29.6%) and nine consecutive ROAD contests (10-for-33, 30.3%)…when the month began, the Ducks ranked 12th in the NHL in PP% for the season (29-for-147, 19.7%), but now rank 5th overall (45-for-201, 22.4%)…the Ducks scored at least one PP goal in 13 of the 14 games in January.
