Niedermayer Named One of Three Stars
Ducks defenseman Scott Niedermayer was named one of the NHL’s Three Stars for the month of January, along with New Jersey Devils right wing Jamie Langenbrunner and Buffalo Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller.
SECOND STAR – SCOTT NIEDERMAYER, D,
Niedermayer led all defensemen with 17 points (one goal, 16 assists) in 14 games as the Ducks record moved to 25-22-5, 55 points and second in the Pacific Division. He recorded points in 11 of 14 games including five multiple point games that saw two-point efforts against Phoenix, Jan. 4 and Jan. 27, Los Angeles, Jan. 6, Chicago, Jan. 28 as well as a three-point game against Colorado, Jan. 31. Niedermayer has appeared in all 52 games for the Ducks this season and is tied for fifth among NHL defensemen with
36 points (6-30--36)
FIRST STAR – JAMIE LANGENBRUNNER, RW, NEW
Langenbrunner tied for third among scorers with 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 14 games as the Devils went 11-3-0 for the month to improve their overall record to 32-15-3, 67 points and first in the Atlantic Division. He recorded points in 10 of 14 games including goals in six games. Langenbrunner recorded six multiple point games and notched game winning goals against Ottawa Jan. 27, Boston Jan. 29 and Pittsburgh Jan.
30. Appearing in 49 games this season, Langenbrunner has recorded 41 points
(14-27--41) with a +19 plus-minus rating.
THIRD STAR – RYAN MILLER, G,
Miller led all NHL goaltenders in victories, posting a 9-3-0 record with a 2.30 goals-against average, .932 save percentage and one shutout as the Sabres improved to 26-19-5 overall, 57 points and seventh in the Eastern Conference. Miller started 12 of the Sabres' 13 games in January and allowed two goals or fewer eight times, including a 28-save, 2-0 win over
