Wisniewski '50-50' for Game 5

Wisniewski \'50-50\' for Game 5
Following his first practice with the team since suffering a lung contusion in Game 3, Ducks defenseman James Wisniewski said it is “50-50″ whether he will be in the lineup for Sunday’s Game 5 against the Red Wings in Detroit.

Wisniewski took a puck to the chest in the second period of Anaheim's 2-1 victory in Game 3 last Tuesday night and was rushed to UCI Medical Center while suffering from shortness of breath. He was held out of Game 4, a 6-3 Ducks defeat to the Red Wings.

Following a practice at Allen Park Civic Arena that he described as "real good," Wisniewski was scheduled to meet with Ducks team physician Dr. Craig Milhouse later in the day.

“He’s going to check me out, and see how everything feels,” Wisniewski said. "The big test is when I’m on the ice and when I get my heart rate up a little bit higher, to see how I’m feeling. I really want to push to play.”

Wisniewski said he would know more in the next 24 hours. “We’ll see how things go over the night, and hopefully it will be a game-time decision. No pain at all. Maybe just a little bit short of breath, but that’s maybe just because I haven’t skated in (three) days. That’s about all. I rode the bike fine and everything. Nothing, no pain at all, so I’m pretty happy. I bounced back quick.”

Wisniewski, who was struck by a shot by Pavel Dastyuk in a place where he was not aptly covered by padding, said he might wear some extra protection over the lung area. But he said he wasn't feeling any pain anymore. “I don’t have any bruises, any soreness from the puck at all,” he said.

Getzlaf Update

Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf did not practice Saturday after continuing to feel the effects of flu-like symptoms that limited his time on ice in Game 4.

Getzlaf said he began feeling noticeably ill during the second period of that game, but planned to be in the lineup for Game 5.

“We’ll obviously see how it goes today, as things keep progressing, Getzlaf said.

Getzlaf had two assists in Game 4, despite playing only 15 minutes, 55 seconds (about 10 minute under his average this postseason). His 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in the playoffs is tied for the NHL lead with Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby.

“I’m definitely not a hundred percent, but I’m definitely getting better as we go,” Getzlaf said.
