Ryan, Whitney Invited to U.S. Olympic Camp
USA Hockey on Tuesday invited Ducks right wing Bobby Ryan and defenseman Ryan Whitney to the U.S. Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Orientation Camp, which will be held Aug. 17-19 at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, IL. Ryan and Whitney were among 34 players invited to the camp, which will assist in the preparation of the 2010 U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Team that will compete at the XXI Olympic Winter Games to be held Feb. 12-28, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Ryan, 22 (3/17/87), appeared in 64 games for the Ducks during his rookie NHL season in 2008-09, scoring 31-26=57 points with a +13 rating and 33 penalty minutes (PIM). Ryan finished the season leading all NHL rookies in scoring, goals, points-per-game (.89), power play goals (12), power play points (23) and shooting percentage (17.8%). A finalist for the 2008-09 Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie, Ryan was also named to the 2008-09 NHL All-Rookie Team on June 18, 2009. A native of Cherry Hill, NJ, Ryan was selected by Anaheim in the first round (second overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Whitney, 26 (2/19/83), split the 2008-09 season with Anaheim and Pittsburgh, combining for 2-21=23 points with 28 PIM in 48 games. A native of Boston, MA, Whitney was acquired by Anaheim from Pittsburgh in exchange for left wings Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi on Feb. 26, 2009. In four NHL seasons with the Ducks and Penguins, Whitney has collected 34-126=160 points with 235 PIM in 273 games. He was also a member of the U.S. Jr. National Team in 2000-01, scoring 2-8=10 points with 22 PIM in 20 games.
