Still in a dogfight to make the playoffs, the Ducks faced the daunting task of trying to win at Vancouver, who had won 11 straight at home. Down by two twice in the second period, things didn't look good for Anaheim. But their fortunes would quickly turn around for a huge 6-5 win.

Corey Perry and Teemu Selanne scored the final two goals of a wild second stanza to tie the game. It stayed that way until a shootout where Perry converted the game-winner for the Ducks.

In a building where the Sharks had only lost three previous times in regulation all year, the Ducks found the back of the net early and often en route to a 5-2 trouncing of San Jose. It would be a sign of things to come later in the month between the teams in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

After they teamed up for the first goal of the game 2:47 in, Ryan Getzlaf (single-season assists) and Bobby Ryan (rookie goals) each set new franchise records later in the victory.

While their season would ultimately come to an end at Detroit in a 4-3 Game 7 loss, the Ducks gave the defending Stanley Cup champions all they could handle until the final horn.

11. May 5, 2009 vs. Detroit
After a dramatic, triple OT win at Detroit in Game 2, the Ducks brought their Western Conference Semifinal matchup with the Red Wings to Honda Center for the first time in Game 3.

Anaheim seized momentum early with goals from Teemu Selanne and Scott Niedermayer. But they would need a healthy dose of Jonas Hiller (45 saves) and a controversial quick whistle from the officials to wave off a potential Detroit goal with 1:04 left to hold on for a 2-1 victory and what would be their only lead in the series.
