The Ducks announced on Monday that they have recalled left wing Kyle Calder from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Calder, 31 (1/5/79), appeared in 14 contests with Anaheim this season, collecting two assists (0-2=2) with eight penalty minutes (PIM). He tallied his first point as a Duck on Nov. 25 vs. Carolina in a 3-2 Anaheim win. He was assigned to Toronto on Dec. 30. With the Marlies, Calder scored 11-13=24 points in 31 games, including three goals (3-1=4) in his last two contests. A native of Manville, Alberta, Calder signed a one-year contract with Anaheim on Oct. 28 and was assigned to Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL. He scored 3-3=6 points in five games with the Condors this season. Calder attended the Ducks’ 2009 Training Camp on a tryout basis in September.
Originally selected by Chicago in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Calder has played 10 NHL seasons with the Blackhawks (1999-06), Philadelphia Flyers (2006-07), Detroit Red Wings (2006-07), Los Angeles Kings (2007-09) and Ducks (2009-10). In 590 career NHL games, he has collected 114-180=294 points with 309 PIM. During his career, Calder has recorded two 20-goal seasons (2003-04 and 2005-06) and twice appeared in 80-plus games in a single season (2001-02 and 2002-03). In the 2007 Stanley Cup Playoffs, Calder appeared in a career-high 13 games with Detroit before falling to Anaheim in the Western Conference Finals.
