Ducks Sign Center Holland
Selected by Anaheim in the first round (15th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Holland scored a career-high 80 points for the Guelph Storm in the OHL this season.
The Ducks have signed center Peter Holland to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, no terms of the deal were disclosed. The three-year contract begins with the start of next season (2010-11).

Holland, 19 (1/14/91), just completed his third season with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), scoring a career-high 30-50=80 points with 40 penalty minutes (PIM) in 59 games. He ranked second on the club in both assists and points, third in power play goals (9) and fourth in goal scoring. He scored a career-high four points (regular season) on three separate occasions this year, including a four-goal effort (4-0=4). The 6-2, 187-pound center also appeared in five OHL Playoff contests with the Storm this season, collecting a career-high 2-3=5 points on Mar. 23 at London in Game 3 of the Quarterfinals. Guelph was eliminated by London in five games (4-1).

In 2008-09, the Toronto, Ontario native finished second on the Storm in scoring and appeared in all 68 of the club’s regular season contests. Holland was also Guelph’s leading goal scorer in the OHL Playoffs, tallying four goals in four contests (4-0=4). In addition, he represented the Storm in the 2009 OHL All-Star Classic and was selected to Team Canada’s 2009 IIHF Under-18 World Championship squad, earning 1-4=5 points in the tournament. Holland also appeared with Team Orr at the 2009 CHL Top Prospects Game.

Selected by Anaheim in the first round (15th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Holland earned team Rookie of the Year honors in his first season with Guelph in 2007-08, scoring 8-15=23 points in 62 games. In 189 career OHL contests, he collected 66-104=170 points with 113 PIM. Holland also represented Ontario at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in London, Ontario, capturing a gold medal.
