Wednesday, 06.30.2010 / 7:36 PM / News
The Ducks announced on Wednesday that they have acquired left wing/center Jason Jaffray from the Calgary Flames in exchange for left wing Logan MacMillan. Either club could also receive a seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft in the trade (the pick is conditional for both clubs).

Jaffray, 29 (6/30/81), appeared in 72 contests for the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2009-10, scoring a team-leading 25-29=54 points with 70 penalty minutes (PIM) and a club-high +24 rating. In nine Calder Cup Playoff games with the Heat, the Rimbey, Alberta native collected 2-1=3 points with eight PIM and a +2 rating. Jaffray also appeared in three contests with the Flames, going scoreless. In 36 career NHL appearances, Jaffray has earned 4-6=10 points with 33 PIM. He made his NHL debut on Dec. 12, 2007 with Vancouver, scoring his first goal that night against then-Anaheim Duck J.S. Giguere.

Originally signed as a free agent by Vancouver on July 3, 2007, Jaffray has scored 130-174=304 points in 372 career AHL contests with Norfolk, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Cleveland, Manitoba and Abbotsford. He appeared in the Calder Cup Finals with Manitoba in 2009, scoring a hat trick in Game 2 against the Hershey Bears on June 2. He had a career year in the AHL during the 2006-07 season when he scored 35-46=81 points in 77 contests with the Moose and was selected as a Second Team All-Star. The 6-1, 197-pound forward played three years in the ECHL from 2002-05 and was named the Rookie of the Year following the 2002-03 season. Jaffray signed as a free agent with Calgary on July 7, 2009.

MacMillan, 20 (7/5/89), appeared in 30 contests with the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL in 2009-10, scoring 2-4=6 points with 20 PIM. He also played in seven contests with Abbotsford (AHL), going scoreless with seven PIM. Selected by Anaheim in the first round (19th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, MacMillan split the 2008-09 season with Halifax and Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), scoring 9-22=31 points with 64 PIM in 43 contests. In 219 career QMJHL appearances, MacMillan earned 53-92=145 points with 254 PIM.
