Ducks Recall Emery from Syracuse
Emery
The Ducks have recalled goaltender Ray Emery from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). At the same time, the club has reassigned goaltender Timo Pielmeier to the Crunch.

Emery, 28 (9/28/82), who signed a one-year contract with Anaheim on Feb. 7, appeared in three contests with the Crunch from Feb. 18-22, compiling a 2-1-0 record with a 2.62 goals-against average (GAA) and .925 save percentage (SV%). In his third straight start for the Crunch last night (Feb. 22) vs. Charlotte, Emery stopped 34-of-37 shots in regulation and overtime, while also denying three-of-four shootout attempts in a 4-3 win. In addition, the 6-2, 196-pound netminder allowed just one goal (37 saves) in a 7-1 Crunch victory on Saturday, Feb. 19 vs. Rochester.

A native of Cayuga, Ontario, Emery appeared in 29 contests with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2009-10, posting a 16-11-1 record with a 2.64 GAA and .905 SV%. He had a five-game winning streak from Oct. 31-Nov. 12, 2009, compiling a 1.38 GAA (7 GA/305 MIN) and .954 SV% (145-of-152) during that span. Selected by Ottawa in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Emery has appeared in 163 career NHL games with the Senators and Flyers, posting a 87-51-15 record with a 2.70 GAA and .907 SV%. He appeared in five NHL seasons with the Ottawa Senators from 2003-08 and had a career year in 2006-07, when he posted a 33-16-6 record with a 2.47 GAA and .918 SV% in 58 regular season games. Emery played an instrumental role in the club’s 2007 postseason run, helping the Senators advance to the Stanley Cup Final vs. Anaheim with a 13-7 record and 2.26 GAA in 20 contests.

Pielmeier, 21 (7/7/89), made his NHL debut on Feb. 19 at St. Louis, coming on in relief of Curtis McElhinney in the second period, stopping seven-of-12 shots. Most recently recalled from Elmira (Anaheim’s development affiliate in the ECHL) on Feb. 16, Pielmeier appeared in two contests with the Jackals, posting a 1-0-1 record with a 3.37 GAA and .873 SV%. He has also appeared in 27 games for Syracuse this season, going 10-14-1 with a 3.33 GAA (77 GA/1389 MIN) and .901 SV% (704-of-781). He went 4-2 with the Crunch from Dec. 31-Jan. 19, compiling a 2.39 GAA and .921 SV% in that span. A native of Deggendorf, Germany, Pielmeier won three consecutive games from Oct. 16-23, allowing just one goal in each of his appearances for a 1.00 GAA and .969 SV%.
