The Ducks recalled goaltender Ray Emery from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). At the same time, the club has reassigned goaltender J.P. Levasseur to the Crunch.

Emery, 28 (9/28/82), has gone 4-1-0 for the Crunch this season, compiling a 1.98 goals-against average (GAA) and .943 save percentage (SV%) over five contests. Assigned to Syracuse on Saturday (Mar. 5), the 6-2, 196-pound netminder had two starts for the Crunch, allowing just one goal in each contest, including a 40-save effort on Saturday at San Antonio (4-1 Crunch win) and a 27-save performance this afternoon at Texas (3-1 Syracuse). Signed to a one-year contract with Anaheim on Feb. 7, Emery has yet to appear in a game for the Ducks this season.

A native of Cayuga, Ontario, Emery appeared in 29 contests with the Philadelphia Flyers in 2009-10, posting a 16-11-1 record with a 2.64 GAA and .905 SV%. He had a five-game winning streak from Oct. 31-Nov. 12, 2009, compiling a 1.38 GAA and .954 SV% during that span. Selected by Ottawa in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Emery has appeared in 163 career NHL games with the Senators and Flyers, posting a 87-51-15 record with a 2.70 GAA and .907 SV%. He appeared in five NHL seasons with the Ottawa Senators from 2003-08 and had a career year in 2006-07, when he posted a 33-16-6 record with a 2.47 GAA and .918 SV% in 58 regular season games. Emery played an instrumental role in the club’s 2007 postseason run, helping the Senators advance to the Stanley Cup Final vs. Anaheim with a 13-7 record and 2.26 GAA in 20 contests.

Levasseur, 24 (1/15/87), was recalled on Mar. 5 and has not appeared in an NHL game. He has posted a 2.97 GAA, .912 SV%, a career-high four shutouts and an 8-20-3 record in 36 games for Syracuse this season. In his first season with the Crunch, Levasseur earned shutouts on Nov. 12 at Albany (23 saves, 3-0 win), Dec. 19 vs. Connecticut (32 saves in a 5-0 win), Jan. 14 at Hamilton (46 saves in 1-0 shootout loss), and Feb. 4 at Adirondack (31 saves in a 5-0 win). Selected by Anaheim in the seventh round (197th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Levasseur has played four AHL seasons with Portland (2007-08), Iowa (2008-09), Springfield (2009-10) and Syracuse (2010-11). He has gone 33-59-9 with six shutouts, a 3.12 GAA and .899 SV% in 112 career AHL appearances.
