The Ducks have officially signed goaltender Jeff Deslauriers to a two-year contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Deslauriers, 27 (5/15/84), most recently appeared in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers in 2009-10, posting a 16-28-4 record while compiling a 3.26 goals-against average (GAA) and .901 save percentage (SV%). He recorded his first NHL shutout on Nov. 23, 2009, stopping all 36 shots he faced in a 4-0 Edmonton win over Phoenix. Deslauriers strung together a career-high five consecutive wins (5-0-0) from Dec. 3-12, 2009, with a .938 SV% and 1.94 GAA during that stretch. He made his NHL debut with the Oilers in 2008-09, recording his first win on the same night, a 4-3 victory over Calgary on Oct. 17, 2008 (26 saves).

"He’s a big guy, been in the NHL and fought for the No. 1 job," Ducks Executive VP/GM Bob Murray said. "(Goaltending Consultant) Pete Peeters has coached him, so he knows him. We feel comfortable now if there are problems with Jonas, we can get through the beginning until we have to do what we have to do. We’re hoping that never happens. If all goes well and Jonas is good from the beginning, we are really strong in goal."

A native of St. Jean-Richelieu, Quebec, Deslauriers appeared in 35 contests with the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2010-11, recording a 2.81 GAA and .906 SV%. With a 17-13-4 record, including three shutouts, Deslauriers shared goaltending duties for most the season with Martin Gerber, helping to backstop the Barons to a 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs appearance.

Selected by Edmonton in the second round (31st overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Deslauriers has appeared in 58 career NHL contests with the Oilers, posting a 3.27 GAA, .901 SV%, and three shutouts. In addition, the 6-4, 200-pound netminder has appeared in 150 career AHL games, going 76-72-14 with a 2.80 GAA and seven shutouts.  Deslauriers played his junior hockey with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 2001-04. In his rookie season with Chicoutimi in 2001-02, he was named to the QMJHL’s All-Rookie Team and was the QMJHL Defensive Rookie of the Year.
