Ducks coach Randy Carlyle was a guest Wednesday morning on the Mac and Noodles radio show with hosts Scott MacArthur and Jamie McLellan. Among Carlyle's quotes during the interview:
On new acquisition Andrew Cogliano
"We think he can fit into a much higher level of player than he's established and [we can] surround him with players he can mesh with…He's another young player with some skill and speed."
On expectations for Cam Fowler next season
"He's shown a tremendous amount of maturity. That alone sets him apart…We felt he was our best defenseman in the playoff series…"
On Jeff Deslauriers
"We feel he's a guy that can challenge for a back-up [role] with our club. [We want to] make sure you have depth at the position."
Carlyle on Hiller
"He's been at a goalie camp in Switzerland and things have gone well with his progression…He has no symptoms, so this is a huge step for him. He'll spend two weeks [working there]…We think it's behind him, but you really never know with these things. We feel he's moving forward and expect him to be available in training camp."
