Tuesday, 07.19.2011 / 2:20 PM / News
The Ducks have signed center Andrew Cogliano to a three-year contract. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Cogliano, 24 (6/14/87), was acquired from Edmonton in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft on July 12. He appeared in 82 games for the Oilers in 2010-11, collecting 11-24=35 points with 64 penalty minutes (PIM). Cogliano has not missed a game since making his NHL debut with Edmonton in 2007-08, appearing in all 82 games in each of his four NHL seasons. The 5-10, 185-pound center ranked fifth on the club in scoring and assists, third in game-winning goals (3), and led the team in games played last season. He also paced all Edmonton skaters with a career-high 461 faceoff wins in 2010-11.

The Toronto, Ontario native has appeared in 328 career NHL games, scoring 57-89=146 points with 137 PIM. He set career highs in goals (18), assists (27) and points (45) during his rookie season in 2007-08 and matched his career high in goals in 2008-09. Cogliano established a record during his rookie season with the Oilers, becoming the first player in NHL history to score the overtime goal in three consecutive games: Mar. 7 at Columbus (2-1), Mar. 9 at Chicago (6-5) and Mar. 11 vs. St. Louis (4-3). Cogliano also won the “Fastest Skater” title during the SuperSkills competition at the 2009 NHL All-Star weekend in Montreal, Quebec.

Originally selected by Edmonton in the first round (25th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Cogliano played two seasons with the University of Michigan (CCHA) from 2005-07 prior to advancing directly to the NHL in 2007-08. Cogliano is also a two-time goal-medal winner at the World Junior Championship, representing Team Canada at the 2006 World Juniors in Vancouver and the 2007 tournament in Sweden.
