In honor of Ruslan Salei, the Anaheim Ducks will wear a “24” patch on each of their three jerseys (home, road, third) beginning with the club’s 2011-12 home opener on Friday, Oct. 14 vs. San Jose at Honda Center. Salei, who was tragically killed in a plane crash on Sept. 7, 2011 with the KHL’s Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, was selected by the Ducks ninth overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft and scored 26-79=105 points in 594 games in an Anaheim uniform (1996-2006).
The “Limited Edition” jerseys will be worn through the Nov. 17 contest vs. Los Angeles and then be auctioned off at the 12th annual Dux in Tux on Nov. 18, and a future online auction at AnaheimDucks.com (details will be announced at a later date).
Proceeds from the auctions will benefit both the Anaheim Ducks Foundation and a charity selected by the Salei family (TBD).
