Pregame Festivities Including “Blue Carpet” Arrival and Live Music to begin at 3 p.m.; All Ticketed Fans to Receive 2011-12 Magnet Schedules

Ducks Doing Home Opener in Style
The home opener is one of the most exciting nights of the hockey season, and the Ducks are once again doing it in style this Friday before they open the 2011-12 campaign against the San Jose Sharks at 7:05 p.m. Honda Center.

Fans are invited to join in pregame festivities on the North side of the building beginning at 3 p.m. A variety of unique elements are planned for the club’s 18th home opener in franchise history, including a magnetic schedule giveaway, live music, the debut of three new concession concepts and the kick-off of the 2011-12 Surprise Puck Set. In addition, Friday’s contest marks the first of 17 games in which the club will wear a “24” patch in honor of former Duck Ruslan Salei.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early for a special “Blue Carpet” event, taking place at the North entrance of Honda Center from 3-5 p.m. Ducks players will walk the Miller Lite blue carpet and participate in pre-game interviews as they enter the building before suiting up for the game. Ducks television host Kent French and KTLA Morning News weather anchor Henry DiCarlo will serve as emcees for the blue carpet. In addition, local Orange County band “d” will play live music from the blue carpet. Once doors open, “d” will relocate to the Miller Lite Zone inside Honda Center and play from 6-6:30 p.m., and during both intermissions.

The Ducks home opener also marks the unveiling of phase-two of Honda Center’s complete food and beverage makeover. After a successful phase-one, which debuted last October, phase-two will see the addition of three new concession concepts: Outlaws Smokehouse, Burger Bistro and Sliced Gourmet Deli. Outlaws Smokehouse, located at section 219, will feature house-smoked BBQ favorites including brisket sandwiches, kielbasa sandwiches and loaded baked potatoes. Burger Bistro, located at section 217, will offer multiple gourmet burgers including BBQ Bacon, Mushroom Swiss, Pineapple Teriyaki and Spicy Chile. Located on the San Manuel Premium level is the new Sliced Gourmet Deli at section 319. Patrons of Sliced will enjoy fresh, made-to-order sandwiches and salads.

For the second straight year, the Ducks are offering a commemorative series of four limited-edition Anaheim Ducks pucks to benefit the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. Friday’s contest marks the kick-off of the 2011-12 Surprise Puck Set, a 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere commemorative puck. Each puck is autographed by a Ducks player and 23 lucky fans will draw at random a “surprise” player-autographed orange puck and an Anaheim Ducks jersey with an NHL Premiere commemorative patch (worn in both Finland and Sweden). The remaining three pucks of the series will be sold at the following games: Friday, Nov. 11 vs. Vancouver (Military Appreciation); Wednesday, Feb. 1 vs. Dallas (All-Star) and Sunday, Apr. 1 vs. Edmonton (Fan Appreciation). Each “Surprise Puck” in the set costs $30 and will be available at Section 213 beginning one-and-a-half hours prior to game-time (on the four designated dates) while supplies last. 

Friday’s home opener vs. San Jose marks the Ducks’ third contest of the regular season. The club opened the 2011-12 season in Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden as part of the NHL Premiere. Anaheim enters Friday’s game with a 1-1-0 record and play four of the next five contests at Honda Center: Oct. 14 vs. San Jose (Home Opener) Oct. 16 vs. St. Louis (Corey Perry Night), Oct. 21 vs. Dallas (Hockey Fights Cancer Night) and Oct. 23 vs. Phoenix. Individual game tickets for all 2011-12 regular season home dates are currently on sale and can be purchased online at AnaheimDucks.com, by phone with TicketMaster at (714) 703-2545 or in person at the Honda Center box office. As part of the club’s new “all-in pricing”, fans purchasing tickets direct from the Anaheim Ducks (AnaheimDucks.com, Ticketmaster or Honda Center Box Office) will pay the identical price regardless of purchase point.
