Deslauriers and Cumiskey Assigned to Syracuse

Deslauriers was required to pass through waivers before the assignment, and did as of 9 a.m. Pacific this morning. Winger Brian McGrattan as also placed on waivers yesterday, and was claimed by the Nashville Predators.
Deslauriers, 27 (5/15/84), appeared in four preseason contests with Anaheim, going 1-1-0 with a 2.27 goals-against average (GAA) and .926 save percentage (SV%). The 6-4, 203-pound netminder accompanied the team to Finland and Sweden for the 2011 Compuware NHL Premiere, but did not dress for either contest. Signed as a free agent by Anaheim on July 12, 2011, Deslauriers most recently appeared in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers in 2009-10, posting a 16-28-4 record while compiling a 3.26 GAA and .901 SV%. He recorded his first NHL shutout on Nov. 23, 2009, stopping all 36 shots he faced in a 4-0 Edmonton win over Phoenix. Selected by Edmonton in the second round (31st overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Deslauriers appeared in 58 career NHL contests with the Oilers, posting a 3.27 GAA, .901 SV%, and three shutouts. In addition, Deslauriers has appeared in 150 career AHL games, going 76-72-14 with a 2.80 GAA and seven shutouts.
Cumiskey, 24 (12/2/86), was acquired from Colorado in exchange for Jake Newton and a seventh-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft on Oct. 8, 2011. He appeared in 18 contests with Colorado in 2010-11, earning 1-7=8 points with 10 penalty minutes (PIM). The 5-10, 185-pound blueliner appeared in a career-high 61 contests with the Avalanche in 2009-10, scoring 7-13=20 points with an even plus/minus rating. In 132 career NHL contests, Cumiskey has collected 9-26=35 points with 48 PIM. Cumiskey made his NHL debut with the Avalanche on Jan. 1, 2007 at Nashville and scored his first career goal in his third NHL game on Jan. 6, 2007 at Minnesota. A native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Cumiskey was selected by Colorado in the seventh round (222nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He is also a veteran of 96 AHL contests, scoring 13-39=52 points with 52 PIM.
