Maroon's recall comes in the wake of Jason Blake suffering a laceration above his left wrist that will keep him out three months.
Maroon, 23 (4/23/88), has appeared in two games with Syracuse this season, collecting 2-3=5 points with a +4 rating and two penalty minutes (PIM). Acquired with David Laliberte from Philadelphia in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson on Nov. 21, 2010, Maroon scored one goal in two preseason games with Anaheim last month.
The 6-3, 231-pound winger split the 2010-11 season with Syracuse and Adirondack (AHL), collecting 26-30=56 points with a +5 rating and 98 PIM in 66 games. Following his acquisition from Philadelphia, Maroon ranked second on Syracuse in points (48), third in goals (21) and plus/minus (+6), and fifth in assists (27). Among AHL season leaders, he finished tied for second with 15 power play goals.
Selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Maroon has played four AHL seasons with Philadelphia (2007-09), Adirondack (2009-11) and Syracuse (2010-11). In 216 career AHL games, he has scored 62-97=159 with 287 PIM. The St. Louis, MO native has also appeared in four career Calder Cup Playoff games with the Phantoms, earning 1-2=3 points with 13 PIM.
