The Ducks will help to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men by participating in the month-long Movember campaign. Beginning tomorrow (Nov. 1), a majority of the Ducks roster will grow a moustache in support of Movember.

Ducks Begin Movember at The Art of Shaving

Led by Movember team captain George Parros, fans will have the opportunity to donate to their “favorite ‘stache” through the Ducks “MoSpace” page at http://us.movember.com/mospace/983114/. Earlier today, members of the team enjoyed a hot, clean shave at The Art of Shaving in Washington D.C. to prepare for the month-long moustache-growing campaign. Participating players included Parros, Corey Perry (who also had the honor of shaving off Parros’ signature ‘stache), Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf and Saku Koivu. The Ducks arrived in Washington, D.C. today in advance of Tuesday’s game against the Capitals at Verizon Center (4:30 p.m. PDT, VERSUS/AM 830).

In addition, goaltender Jonas Hiller will don a special Movember mask in-game throughout the month in support of the cause. The mask depicts Hiller and his teammates with “doodle” moustaches drawn on each player. At the conclusion of the month (Nov. 30), Hiller will donate his mask to the winner of an online auction (AnaheimDucks.com), with those funds benefiting programs run directly by “Movember” and the organization’s health partners: the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Fans can place opening bids in the online auction for Hiller’s mask following Anaheim’s contest vs. Detroit at Honda Center on Sunday, Nov. 20. The start of the online auction (running through Nov. 30) coincides with a special Movember ticket offer to the Nov. 20 contest. Details on the ticket offer will be announced later this week.
