The Ducks have launched the newly designed Learn to Play Program presented by Reebok, which offers first-time hockey players between the ages of four through 10 the chance to learn to play for free.

Participants will receive instruction on the basics of hockey as well as learn how to skate properly during the four-week program held at four of the five RINKS locations, including Westminster ICE, Corona Inline, Huntington Beach Inline and Irvine Inline.

On Saturday, Nov. 5, kids ages four through 10 are invited to join Wild Wing for Try Hockey for Free Day at THE RINKS – Westminster ICE from 2:10-3:10 p.m. As part of the Learn to Play kick-off, participants will be provided with protective equipment, including a helmet and gloves. Try Hockey for Free Day will be held at more than 430 local ice rinks across 47 states and is expected to introduce nearly 10,000 kids to the sport of hockey.

“Try Hockey for Free Day is an excellent way to introduce local boys and girls to the sport of hockey,” said Vice President of THE RINKS Art Trottier. “The growth of hockey in Southern California continues and the Learn to Play Program presented by Reebok is a tremendous first step into the game for our local youth.”

The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program presented by Reebok is being launched in conjunction with the NHL’s Come Play Hockey Month, a component of the league’s Hockey is for Everyone (HIFE) program that provides children of all backgrounds the opportunity to play hockey. The Learn to Play Program begins this Saturday at Westminster ICE, Corona Inline, Huntington Beach Inline and Irvine Inline, and runs four consecutive weekends (also Nov. 12, Nov. 19, Nov. 26). Space is limited to 50 participants; therefore registration is encouraged prior to Saturday’s first session. With THE RINKS Development Program presented by Honda launch in February 2009, the Ducks now operate five local skating facilities: two ice rinks and three inline facilities. Irvine Inline was added in September 2011, joining locations in Anaheim (THE RINKS - Anaheim ICE), Westminster (THE RINKS - Westminster ICE), Corona (THE RINKS - Corona Inline), and Huntington Beach (THE RINKS - Huntington Beach Inline). In addition to youth and adult hockey programs, Anaheim ICE and Westminster ICE offer figure skating, a learn-to-skate program, broomball, curling and public skating.
