Ducks Assign Palmieri to Syracuse
Palmieri
The Ducks have assigned right wing Kyle Palmieri to the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Palmieri, 20 (2/1/91), has played in seven games with the Ducks this season, scoring 1-1=2 points with two penalty minutes. He was recalled from Syracuse on Dec. 9. With the Crunch, he has played 18 games this season, scoring 17-9=26 points with a +15 rating and 19 penalty minutes. Palmieri currently ranks second in the AHL in goals and tied for second in game-winning goals (4). Among team leaders, he ranks first in goals and plus/minus, second in points and tied for third in power play goals (3).

Selected by Anaheim in the first round (26th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Palmieri made his NHL debut with the Ducks last season. He appeared in 10 games with Anaheim, scoring his first career goal in his debut on Nov. 3, 2010 vs. Tampa Bay. At 19 years, nine months and two days, Palmieri was then the fifth-youngest player in club history to appear in a game. The 5-11, 196-pound winger also made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game 3 of the 2011 Western Conference Quarterfinals on Apr. 17 at Nashville.

“He’s still very young,” said Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau. ”We need him to play 20, 23 minutes a game and learn the game. To play limited minutes on a fourth-line role, I don’t think is doing him any good.

“If the situation persists that we’re in come March, maybe it’ll be let’s see what he can do with 15-to-20 minutes. But right now, I think it would be better for him to be able to play. Especially with Saku [Koivu] and Jason [Blake] getting close to returning.”

Boudreau also indicated that Blake, who has been out since the third game of the season with a laceration above his wrist, could be "one or two games" from returning to action.
