Ducks Recall Tarkki, Palmieri, Jacques; Reassign Gordon

Sunday, 01.08.2012 / 7:44 PM / News
The Ducks have recalled goaltender Iiro Tarkki, right wing Kyle Palmieri and left wing Jean-Francois Jacques from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have assigned right wing Andrew Gordon to Syracuse.

In addition to those roster moves, the Ducks also placed goaltender Dan Ellis on injured reserve tonight. Ellis suffered a strained groin in practice yesterday and will be out at least four weeks. Right wing George Parros (also strained groin) has also been placed on injured reserve retroactive to Dec. 31. He is listed as day-to-day.

Tarkki, 26 (7/1/1985), posted a 9-11-1 record with one shutout, a 2.85 goals-against average (GAA) and .916 save percentage (SV%) in 23 games with Syracuse. At the time of his recall, Tarkki ranked fifth among AHL goaltenders in saves (672). He earned his first career win and shutout on Oct. 26 at Lake Erie, stopping all 25 shots faced in a 7-0 Syracuse victory. The 6-3, 185-pound goaltender recorded a season-high three-game winning streak from Nov. 18-25 with a 2.58 GAA (8 GA/186 MIN) and .934 SV% (113-of-121).

Palmieri, 20 (2/1/91), has appeared in seven games with the Ducks this season, scoring 1-1=2 points with two penalty minutes (PIM). Palmieri has also played 23 games with Syracuse in 2011-12, scoring 21-10=31 points with a +15 rating and 23 PIM. The 5-11, 196-pound winger is currently tied for the AHL lead in goals and game-winning goals (5), and also ranks first among team leaders in plus/minus, second in points and tied for third in power play goals (3). He was selected to the AHL All Star Game on Jan. 4.

Jacques, 26 (4/29/85), has appeared in five contests with the Ducks this season, going scoreless with a +1 rating and seven PIM. Jacques began the season with Syracuse, collecting 11-8=19 points with three power play goals and 43 PIM in 23 games. The 6-4, 220-pound winger ranked sixth on the Crunch in scoring and fourth in goals at the time of his recall to Anaheim.

Gordon, 26 (12/13/85), scored 2-3=5 points with six PIM in 37 games with the Ducks this season. He made his Anaheim debut on Oct. 7 at Buffalo in Helsinki, Finland and scored his first goal as a Duck on Dec. 2 vs. Philadelphia. The 5-11, 197-pound winger recorded a season-high two-game point streak from Dec. 26-29 and set a career-high in time-on-ice (TOI) on Dec. 26 at San Jose (16:01).
