Ducks Recall O'Marra from Syracuse

The Ducks have recalled center Ryan O’Marra from the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).
O’Marra, 24 (6/9/87), appeared in 47 contests with Syracuse and Oklahoma City (AHL) this season, scoring 8-10=18 points with 64 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-2, 193-pound centerman also appeared in seven NHL contests with Edmonton this season, scoring 0-1=1 point with four PIM. In 31 NHL contests with Edmonton from 2009-12, O’Marra has collected 1-6=7 points with 17 PIM. Born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, O’Marra was acquired from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for defenseman Bryan Rodney on Feb. 16, 2012.
Selected by the New York Islanders in the first round (15th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, O’Marra won gold with Team Canada at both the 2006 and 2007 IIHF World Junior Championships. Acquired by Edmonton with Robert Nilsson and a 2007 first-round draft pick (Alex Plante) in exchange for Ryan Smyth on Feb. 27, 2007, O’Marra went on to make his NHL debut with the Oilers on Nov. 29, 2009 vs. San Jose. He has also appeared in 275 career AHL contests, scoring 29-53=82 points with 256 PIM.
