Ducks Reassign O'Marra to Syracuse

O’Marra, 24 (6/9/87), appeared in two contests with Anaheim after being recalled on Mar. 9, going scoreless. Acquired from Edmonton in exchange for Bryan Rodney on Feb. 16, O’Marra also appeared in seven contests with the Oilers earlier this year, scoring 0-1=1 point with four penalty minutes (PIM). In addition, the 6-2, 193-pound centerman has appeared in 47 contests with Syracuse and Oklahoma City (AHL) this season, scoring 8-10=18 points with 64 PIM. In 33 career NHL contests with Edmonton and Anaheim, O’Marra has collected 1-6=7 points with 17 PIM.
Selected by the New York Islanders in the first round (15th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, O’Marra was acquired by Edmonton with Robert Nilsson and a 2007 first-round draft pick (Alex Plante) in exchange for Ryan Smyth on Feb. 27, 2007. Born in Tokyo, Japan and raised in Mississauga, Ontario, O’Marra went on to make his NHL debut with the Oilers on Nov. 29, 2009 vs. San Jose. He has also appeared in 275 career AHL contests, scoring 29-53=82 points with 256 PIM.
