“We are overwhelmed with the support this event has drawn over the past five years,” said Caroline Marchant, event co-chair along with Paige Getzlaf. “Our sincere thanks to all donors and sponsors who have contributed to our projects that seek to enrich the time spent by both patients and families at CHOC Children’s.”
KTLA 5 Morning News meteorologist Henry DiCarlo and Ducks television personality Kent French shared hosting duties. Eight Ducks players took to the catwalk: Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf, George Parros, Jonas Hiller, Cam Fowler, Luca Sbisa, Francois Beauchemin and Lubomir Visnovsky. Each player was paired with a CHOC Ambassador (current or former patient, or family member of CHOC Children’s) for their walk down the runway. In addition, Saks Fifth Avenue and South Coast Plaza presented a fashion show where professional models featured looks of the upcoming season (clothes and accessories provided by Saks Fifth Avenue).
Guests at the luncheon enjoyed a menu designed and prepared by Newport Beach Marriott executive chef Adrien Sbrana. Featured items included a summer salad with blueberries, dried cherries and goat cheese tossed in a citrus vinaigrette and a main course of maple glazed chicken breast or roasted vegetable Napoleon. Décor for the luncheon was “wine country chic.”
Tables for the sold-out event were purchased for $2,500 and up, based on level of sponsorship package. Guests in attendance also helped to raise funds for CHOC by bidding on a variety of unique live and silent auction items, as well as team-autographed wine magnum centerpieces courtesy of Silver Oak Cellars.
