The Ducks have reassigned defenseman Mat Clark to the Syracuse Crunch, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Clark, 21 (10/17/90), was scoreless in two games with the Ducks, including his NHL debut on Apr. 1 vs. Edmonton. Recalled from Syracuse on Mar. 31, Clark has played 56 games for the Crunch this season, scoring 1-11=12 points with 66 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-3, 216-pound defenseman made his professional debut in 2010-11, collecting 2-14=16 points with 128 PIM in 80 games with Syracuse. Clark led the team in PIM and was one of two Crunch players to appear in all 80 games last season. In 136 career AHL games, Clark has earned 3-25=28 points with 194 PIM with Syracuse.
 
Selected by Anaheim in the second round (37th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Clark played two seasons with Brampton of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2008-10. In 129 career OHL games, Clark recorded 10-36=46 points with a +22 rating and 179 PIM. He won Brampton’s defenseman of the year award in 2009-10, leading all club blueliners in goals and ranking second in points (7-16=23). Following the 2009-10 regular season, Clark was voted the Best Defensive Defenseman and Best Body Checker in the OHL’s Eastern Conference coaches’ poll. In 2008-09, he ranked tied for sixth among OHL rookie defensemen in scoring (3-20=23). Clark helped lead the Battalion to the 2009 OHL Final, where the club fell to Windsor in five games.
