Season Overview
Francois Beauchemin played in his first full season with the Ducks since returning for his second stint with the club after a February 2011 trade with Toronto. Overall, it was his eighth NHL season and six of those have come in an Anaheim sweater.

The 6-0, 204-pound defenseman enjoyed a solid season for the team on the blue line. He was among Anaheim's most dependable players, being one of six players on the team to play in all 82 games. Within those contests, Beauchemin saw an average of 25:33 in ice time. He led the Ducks in that category, ranked seventh overall in the league and beat his previous career-best by one average second (25:32 in 2007-08 with the Ducks).

Beauchemin tied his career high with eight goals, matching his output from his rookie season in 2005-06 with Anaheim. He also added 14 assists to finish 2011-12 with a total of 22 points. Unafraid to put his body on the line, Beauchemin also logged a team-high 194 blocked shots and was third with 154 hits.

Highlight
In a 6-2 Ducks home win over Phoenix on Jan. 18, Beauchemin tied career highs with two goals (including the game-winner) and three points. The defenseman also played a game-high 25:40 and set a season-high with a plus-three rating on the night.

By the Numbers
346:37, Beauchemin's total shorthanded time on ice during the 2011-12 season. That mark led the NHL and was 27:00 more than any other player in the league (Montreal's Josh Gorges was second with 319:13)

Looking Forward
The 31-year-old (turns 32 on June 4) will continue to be staple of Anaheim's defense in the coming years, as he agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2014-15 season on January 20. During exit interviews, Beauchemin revealed he had suffered a torn labrum in his right shoulder. He had successful surgery on April 19 with Dr. Ronald Glousman in Los Angeles and expects to be100 percent recovered in approximately four months.

Personal
Beauchemin likes to stick to a pre-game routine of stopping off at Starbucks and getting a Zen tea. He then listens to the same playlist on his iPod, which includes a large selection of AC/DC. His first job was delivering the Journal de Montreal newspaper every morning at 5 a.m.
