Season Overview
Andrew Cogliano was arguably the biggest offseason acquistion for the Ducks last summer. A restricted free agent when he was acquired from Edmonton in July, he quickly signed a three-year deal with Anaheim soon after.

His first season with the Ducks in 2011-12 was his fifth overall in the NHL (all previous four with the Oilers). He enjoyed his highest goal output (13, fourth-most on the team) since 2008-09 and tallied his first career hat trick (see more on that below). He also totaled 13 assists for a total of 26 points in 82 games played.

The 5-10, 180-pounder tends to stay out of the penalty box, as he posted just 15 PIM on the year (five of which came in his third career fight on Oct. 30 vs. Kris Russell). Cogliano dished out 88 hits on opponents and registered 32 takeaways (fifth on Anaheim), while playing an average of 14:42 per night.

Highlight
Cogliano enjoyed a magical second period at Phoenix on January 31. In that middle session of a 4-1 Anaheim victory, he beat Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith three times in a span of 6:51 for his first career hat trick. It represented the second-fastest hat trick in club history (Bobby Ryan had a hat trick in 2:21 in January 2009) and the fourth time in franchise history that a Duck scored three goals in a single period (Teemu Selanne, twice: November 1997 and February 2001; Vinny Prospal, January 2004). Cogliano also tied career-bests with a plus-three rating and six shots during his 12:46 of ice time on the night.

By the Numbers
410, Cogliano's current "Iron Man" streak after he again played in all 82 games on the schedule. The 24-year-old has yet to miss a contest since making his league debut in October 2007, putting together five straight campaigns of 82 games played. He is tied for third on the NHL's active "Iron Man" list with Calgary's Jarome Iginla, trailing only Calgary's Jay Bouwmester (588) and Vancouver's Henrik Sedin (581).

Looking Forward
With his first season in a Ducks sweater now behind him and two more years left on his current contract, Cogliano will again be part of the solution in the search for more more scoring. His versatility showed in 2011-12, when he centered the third forward line at times and also played the wing on multiple groupings. The spot he begins next season at will depend on the approach taken by head coach Bruce Boudreau and his staff.

Personal
Cogliano won gold medals with Team Canada at the 2006 and 2007 World Junior Championships, which he considers as his greatest hockey accomplishment to date. He donated his game-used stick and gloves to the Hockey Hall of Fame during his rookie season in 2007-08 after becoming the first NHL player to score the game-winning goal in overtime on three consecutive occasions. Lists his favorite artists as City and Colour, Pearl Jam and Bob Dylan. Spends the offseason in his hometown of Woodbridge, Ontario. Says "SportsCenter," "Big Brother," and "Entourage" are his favorite television shows.

He Said It
"I just try to keep playing. That's the only thing I can really think of. Try to be someone that can do different things and be serviceable. In terms of injury-wise, I'm just trying to stay lucky. I guess I think that's the most important thing of what I've done. Knock on wood. It's always nice to play that many games. Keep going." - Andrew Cogliano
