The Ducks have signed left wing Patrick Maroon to a one-year contract extension through the 2012-13 season. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

Maroon, 24 (4/23/88), appeared in two games for the Ducks last season, going scoreless with two penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-3, 231-pound winger was recalled from Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL) on Oct. 24 and made his NHL debut the following night in Chicago, logging 15:19 time-on-ice (TOI). He also appeared on Oct. 27 at Minnesota before being reassigned to Syracuse (AHL), where he played the remainder of the season. Maroon collected 32-42=74 points with a +17 rating and 120 PIM in 75 games with the Crunch, setting career highs in goals, assists, points and plus/minus. Among AHL leaders, he ranked third in scoring, tied for fifth in goals, tied for 10th in assists and tied for eighth in power play goals (12). Maroon also appeared in four Calder Cup Playoff games with Syracuse, going scoreless with four PIM.

A native of St. Louis, MO, Maroon was acquired by Anaheim with David Laliberte from Philadelphia in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson on Nov. 21, 2010. He split the 2010-11 AHL season with Syracuse and Adirondack, collecting 26-30=56 points with a +5 rating and 98 PIM in 66 combined games.

Selected by Philadelphia in the sixth round (161st overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Maroon has played five professional seasons in the AHL with Philadelphia (2007-09), Adirondack (2009-11) and Syracuse (2010-12). In 289 career AHL games, he has scored 92-136=228 points with a +7 rating and 405 PIM. He has also added 1-2=3 points with 17 PIM in eight career Calder Cup Playoff games.
