The Ducks have agreed to terms with defenseman Bryan Allen on a three-year contract through the 2014-15 NHL season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Allen, 31 (8/21/80), appeared in all 82 regular season contests with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2011-12, scoring 1-13=14 points with 76 penalty minutes (PIM). One of four Hurricanes to appear in all 82 games, it marked the second time Allen appeared in every regular season contest. The 6-5, 226-pound rear guard also appeared in all 82 contests in 2006-07, a career-high season in which he collected 4-21=25 points with 112 PIM.

Selected fourth overall by Vancouver in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft, Allen has appeared in 601 career NHL contests with the Canucks (2001-06), Florida (2006-11) and Carolina (2011-12), earning 29-89=118 points with 724 PIM and a +7 rating. He appeared in his 600th NHL contest on Apr. 5, 2012 vs. Montreal in a 2-1 Hurricanes shootout victory. An assist served as Allen’s 100th NHL point on Mar. 9, 2011 with Carolina vs. Atlanta in a 3-2 overtime triumph. He notched a career-best three assists (0-3=3) on Nov. 5, 2010 with Florida in a 7-4 win over Carolina. Allen made his NHL debut on Feb. 26, 2001 in a 5-2 Canucks win over Minnesota. He is also a veteran of seven Stanley Cup Playoff contests (all with Vancouver), going scoreless with six PIM.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, Allen represented his native Canada at the 1999 IIHF World Junior Championship, winning the silver medal (Russia won gold). He appeared in 114 career Ontario Hockey League (OHL) contests with the Oshawa Generals from 1996-2000, scoring 15-34=49 points with 191 PIM. Allen helped guide the Generals to the OHL Championship in 1996-97, earning in 1-3=4 points in 18 playoff contests. He also earned OHL First All-Star honors following the 1998-99 season.

Allen was acquired by Florida from Vancouver with Todd Bertuzzi and Alex Auld in exchange for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek and a sixth-round selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft on June 23, 2006. He was then acquired by Carolina in exchange for Sergei Samsonov on Feb. 28, 2011. After missing all but two games during the 2008-09 season with a knee injury, Allen served as Florida’s nominee for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy in 2009-10, returning to score in 4-9=13 points in 76 contests.
