Ducks to Host Third Annual Mini 1-on-1 Tournament for Local Youth Hockey Players
The Ducks will hold the third annual Mini 1-on-1 Tournament presented by Hockey Giant beginning this November at four local area rinks. The competition gives local youth hockey players the opportunity to showcase his or her breakaway skills against California’s best in each participating age group. The three-round tournament will culminate with the top division winners receiving an all-expenses paid trip to the 2013 NHL Winter Classic in Ann Arbor, Michigan (lower division grand prize winners will attend a Ducks practice). Nearly 200 competitors took part in last year’s tournament.

Boys and girls age 14-and-under (Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam levels) are invited to participate in the competition. Qualifying rounds will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at THE RINKS – Anaheim ICE presented by Honda, Sunday, Nov. 11 at Aliso Viejo Ice Palace, and Sunday, Nov. 18 at both Escondido Iceoplex and THE RINKS – Yorba Linda ICE. Youth players can either compete as a shooter or goaltender, with one of each taking the top prize in each age group. For those who advance, the semifinal round will take place Sunday, Dec. 2 at Honda Center. The final round for each division (Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam) will take place in December and January.

For an entry fee of $40 ($30 for participants who sign up by Friday, Oct. 12, a 25% discount), each participant will have the chance to test his or her skills against local competitors for an opportunity to become the top shooter and top goalie in California. In addition, every participant will receive a Mini 1-on-1 Easton long-sleeve moisture control shirt, a ticket to a future Anaheim Ducks game and a 15% discount coupon to Hockey Giant Anaheim. The Squirt division winners (one goalie and one shooter) will attend the 2013 NHL Winter Classic as the top prize. Pee-Wee and Bantam group winners will have the opportunity to attend and participate in an Anaheim Ducks practice.
