Ducks to Host Thanksgiving Tournament November 21-24
Eight Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League Members Scheduled to Participate
Twelve teams will participate in the tournament, including eight members of the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League: the host JSerra Ice Lions (varsity and junior varsity), Santa Margarita Eagles (varsity and JV), Orange Lutheran Lancers (varsity), Servite Friars (varsity), Corona-Norco Stingrays (varsity), Edison Chargers (varsity), Huntington Beach Oilers (JV), and Long Beach Prep (JV). The tournament also features varsity teams from John Taylor (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Bellarmine (San Jose).
Featuring two divisions of eight varsity teams and four junior varsity teams, the tournament kicks off on Wednesday, Nov. 21 with six games at Anaheim ICE and Westminster ICE. On Thanksgiving Day, the Varsity division shifts to Honda Center for a special four-game set featuring Edison vs. John Taylor (9:15 a.m.), Santa Margarita vs. Orange Lutheran (11 a.m.), JSerra vs. Bellarmine (12:45 p.m.) and Corona-Norco vs. Servite. The final day of round-robin play will be held on Friday, Nov. 23 before the Semifinal and Championship games are played on Saturday, Nov. 24 at Anaheim ICE and Westminster ICE.
The Ducks launched the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League on July 1, 2008 with JSerra Catholic High School (San Juan Capistrano) as its charter member. Santa Margarita Catholic High (Santa Margarita) was added in 2009 and joined by Servite High (Anaheim), Damien High (La Verne) and Lutheran High School of Orange County (Orange) in 2010-11. In the last two years, the ADHSHL grown to 14 teams with the inclusion of Bishop Amat/Upland Christian Academy, Edison High School (Huntington Beach), Long Beach Prep, Corona del Mar High School, Huntington Beach High School, Los Alamitos High School and Corona-Norco. As the league continues to grow, the Anaheim Ducks will continue to provide financial support for each team involved in the program.
