Ducks Embrace Holidays with Series of Community Activities
‘Season of Giving’ Kicks Off with Spark of Love Toy Drive at Six RINKS Drop-Off Locations
The Ducks will celebrate a “Season of Giving” during the holidays through a variety of activities and donation drives throughout the community:
DUCKS TOY DRIVE: The Ducks are collecting new, unwrapped toys at all THE RINKS presented by Honda locations throughout the Southland. The club has once again partnered with ABC7 and Southern California Firefighters for the 20th annual “Spark of Love Toy Drive” for the cause. Over the past two decades the “Spark of Love Toy Drive” has collected more than seven million toys for local children and teens. In addition the drop-off locations at all THE RINKS facilities, Honda Center will also serve as the site of the annual “Stuff-A-Bus” event with ABC 7 on Friday, Dec. 21.
HOLIDAY SKATE & TOY DRIVE AT THE RINKS – ANAHEIM ICE: On Wednesday, Dec. 12, the Ducks will reward fans who donate a new, unwrapped toy with a holiday skating party. Every person who donates to the “Spark of Love Toy Drive” on Dec. 12 from 7-9 p.m. will have the opportunity to participate in a free public skate. In addition, each donor will receive a 2-for-1 skating pass for a future session and be entered to win an Anaheim Ducks prize. Along with admission to the holiday skate, fans will have the opportunity to meet the Anaheim Ducks coaching staff and pose for photos with mascot Wild Wing. The Power Players will also skate alongside fans during the free public session. In addition, fans can participate in holiday arts & crafts, and enjoy hot chocolate and sweets.
HOLIDAY SHOPPING SPREE WITH THE WOODEN FLOOR: A group of Anaheim Ducks staff will treat six deserving students from nonprofit organization The Wooden Floor on a holiday shopping spree at Wal-Mart Foothill Ranch on Friday, Dec. 14 from 4-6 p.m. Located in Santa Ana, the mission of The Wooden Floor is to empower low-income youth from diverse backgrounds to strengthen self-esteem, self-discipline and a sense of accomplishment through dance, academic and family programs. Since 2005, 100 percent of students from The Wooden Floor have graduated high school on time and enrolled in college. Wal-Mart Foothill Ranch is located at 26502 Towne Centre Drive.
HOLIDAY VISIT TO CHOC CHILDREN’S: On Wednesday, Dec. 19, mascot Wild Wing will deliver Ducks gift bags to patients at CHOC Children’s in Orange at 2 p.m. CHOC Children’s is located at 455 South Main Street in Orange.
DUCKS STAFF PARTICIPATE IN “ADOPT-A-FAMILY” PROGRAM: Members of the Anaheim Ducks staff are participating in local nonprofit Share Our Selves’ “Adopt-A-Family” program. Share Our Selves provides free care and emergency assistance to those in need (www.shareourselves.org). Ducks staff and their families will shop for grocery gift cards, clothing and toys so that less fortunate families can enjoy a brighter holiday season.
