The Ducks will host the second annual Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League (ADHSHL) All-Star Game presented by Hockey Giant this Tuesday, Jan. 22 at Honda Center beginning at 5:30 p.m. Featured players from the 14-team league will compete in both the Junior Varsity (5:30 p.m.) and Varsity (7:30 p.m.) contests taking place on Honda Center’s ice just three days prior to Anaheim opening its home NHL schedule on Friday evening (Jan. 25) vs. Vancouver. In addition, the ADHSHL All-Star Game will serve as the site for competition between the four finalists of the inaugural Anaheim Ducks Battle of the Bands event.

A total of 72 players will compete in both the Junior Varsity and Varsity games this Tuesday. The Varsity game will feature ADHSHL top scorers Tyler Maloney of Corona del Mar (20-10=30) and Jake Hamacher of Corona-Norco (17-12=29). The first intermission of both games will also feature a fastest skater competition between the participating athletes. Admission to the ADHSHL All-Star Game is $5 and fans can enter Honda Center through the North doors beginning at 4:30 p.m.

The warm-up and second intermission of both contests will feature music from the four finalists of the inaugural G.O.A.L. (growth, outreach and awareness locally) Battle of the Bands competition. Bands comprised of students from any school enrolled in the ADHSHL were encouraged to submit their best song (MP3 file) via DucksGoal.com. The four finalists featured at the All-Star Game will then be subject to an online fan vote (DucksGoal.com) with the grand-prize winner receiving the opportunity to play in front of a live crowd at a future Ducks game at Honda Center.

The Ducks launched the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League on July 1, 2008 with JSerra Catholic High School (San Juan Capistrano) as its charter member. Santa Margarita Catholic High (Santa Margarita) was added in 2009 and joined by Servite High (Anaheim), Damien High (La Verne) and Lutheran High School of Orange County (Orange) in 2010-11. Over the past two seasons, the four-year old ADHSHL has swelled to 12 schools and 14 teams with the inclusion of Bishop Amat/Upland Christian Academy, Edison (Huntington Beach), Long Beach Prep, Corona del Mar, Huntington Beach, Los Alamitos and Corona-Norco. As the league continues to grow, the Anaheim Ducks will continue to provide financial support for each team involved in the program.
