Ducks Notes: Club Starts 2-0 Going into Home Opener

DUCKS OFF TO FAST START: The Ducks (2-0-0) have started the season with consecutive wins for the second time in club history (also 2006-07)…the club has scored 12 goals in two contests after having never scored more than seven in their first two games in club history (1996-97 and 2005-06)…the Ducks lead the NHL in goals-per-game average (6.0) and rank third in goals overall (12).

Winnik

THAT’S A FIRST: Center Daniel Winnik is the first player in Ducks history to start a season with consecutive multi-goal games (4-1=5)…he is also the first player in club history to record multi-goal games in his first two games as a Duck...Winnik, along with Saku Koivu and Andrew Cogliano, have combined for 5-9=14 points with a +15 rating as Anaheim's third line.

RANKED: Winnik is tied for the NHL lead in goals (4) and ranks tied for second in scoring (4-1=5)…Koivu (1-4=5) and Cogliano (0-4=4) are tied for third among NHL leaders in assists, while Koivu, Cogliano and Winnik are among five players tied for the league-lead in plus/minus (+5).

HOME OPENER: The Anaheim Ducks open the home portion of their 2012-13 schedule against the Vancouver Canucks on Friday at Honda Center (7 p.m. PST, PRIME TICKET/AM 830)...having swept a season-opening two-game road trip in Western Canada, the Ducks will have an opportunity to equal the best start in franchise history, set in 2006-07 when the club began with a 3-0-0 record.

BOUDREAU BEHIND THE BENCH: Bruce Boudreau has compiled a 229-111-48 record in 388 career games as an NHL head coach with both Anaheim and Washington for a .652 win percentage…since his NHL debut as a head coach on Nov. 23, 2007, Boudreau leads NHL coaches for the most standings points gained (506), and co-leads in wins with DET's Mike Babcock (228)…among all active NHL head coaches, Boudreau’s all-time record currently ranks third in win percentage (.651), second only to Pittsburgh’s Dan Bylsma (.660) and San Jose’s Todd McLellan (.659).

Selanne

#8 IS BACK FOR MORE: Teemu Selanne enters Friday's game one power-play goal shy of 250 in his career and is currently tied with Phil Esposito for third on the all-time list (249)...Selanne's 2-2=4 points in Vancouver on Jan. 19 moved him past Dale Hawerchuk for 18th place on the all-time scoring list...with his four points, Teemu became the oldest NHL player to record four points since Gordie Howe (42 years, 326 days) with Detroit on Feb. 20, 1971 vs. Buffalo...in addition, Selanne ranks 12th in all-time goals (two behind Jaromir Jagr), 42nd in all-time assists (five behind Larry Robinson) and sixth in all-time game-winning goals (three behind Brendan Shanahan)…in 1,342 career NHL games (WPG, ANA, SJ & COL), Selanne has scored 665-745=1,410 points with 249 PPG and 106 GWG...Selanne opened the 2012-13 season at 42 years, 6 months and 16 days as the oldest active player in the NHL and the oldest to ever compete in a Ducks uniform
